Here We Go Again…Congress, Pay TSA!
NEWS UPDATE | April 29, 2026
We are concerned that more than 1,000 TSA officers have quit since the ongoing DHS shutdown began in February, especially as we head into the busy summer travel season filled with FIFA World Cup games and America 250 celebrations.
With the temporary funding expiring, TSA officers and Customs officers at airports are once again looking at the possibility of another zero paycheck if Congress does not pass legislation that will get these men and women paid for the important job they do.
The urgency to provide predictable and stable funding for TSA is growing stronger by the day. Congress should get to work getting a deal done to fully fund the agency or provide a durable solution to pay federal workers – and quit playing politics with our nation’s aviation system.
Time and time again, our nation’s aviation workers and customers have been the victim of Congress’ failure to do their jobs. In a recent national survey, 93 percent of respondents said they support paying federal aviation workers, including TSA, during government shutdowns. We implore Congress to listen to their constituents, not leave Washington for recess and take swift action to ensure TSA officers don’t miss another paycheck. The stakes are too high.
