A4A Celebrates Lift of Dublin Airport Passenger Cap

Airlines for America (A4A) commends the Irish government for delivering on its commitment to address the long-standing passenger cap at Dublin Airport. This is a win for travelers, shippers and businesses in the U.S. and Ireland alike. Greater capacity will enable airlines to respond to growing demand while providing more choice and improved connectivity for passengers, while ensuring Dublin continues to strengthen its position among Europe’s leading international hub airports.

For too long, the passenger cap has constrained airline growth, created uncertainty for international carriers and limited Dublin Airport’s ability to attract new routes, additional frequencies and long-term airline investment.

This legislation represents an important step toward ensuring Ireland can fully realize the benefits of the U.S.-EU Open Skies Agreement and meet its broader international aviation commitments. As U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has noted, transatlantic aviation should operate on a level playing field, allowing airlines to compete and grow based on market demand rather than artificial constraints.

A4A welcomes Minister O’Brien’s continued leadership as the legislation is implemented and appreciates the constructive engagement of the United States government in supporting the principles of the U.S.-EU Open Skies Agreement and the importance of maintaining a strong and open transatlantic aviation market.
